ELKHART, Kan. - Emma Jenkins, 89, formerly of Darrouzett, Texas, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Darrouzett Cemetery with the Rev. Gary McDonald officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker, Texas.
Mrs. Jenkins was born April 28, 1921, in Locust Grove, Okla., to Willis Armstrong and Lee Ola Brown Powers. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she enjoyed raising chickens, peacocks and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Wares of Elkhart and Shirley Collins of Stanton, Ore.; two sisters, Martha Lawrence of Summers, Ark., and Lois Epperson of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Clifford Powers of Hartley, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Morton County Special Care Unit of Elkhart, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 341, Booker, TX 79005.
