When Raymond Arthur Steele was born on October 2, 1906, in Wellston, Ohio, his father, John, was 27 and his mother, Nancy, was 29. He married Theo Pearl Stidham on September 5, 1932, in Ranger, Texas. They had two children during their marriage. He died on October 12, 1974, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 68, and was buried there.
