It is awe-inspiring to know that she lived on this earth for one hundred two years. She was one of eight children, born October 29, 1911, to the late John and Amanda Martinez in a small rural community in Houston County, Ratcliff, Texas. Her sisters and brothers, Melvinia, Cornelius, Mattie Bell, Annie, Nelia, Billie and Charlie, all preceded her in death.
Mae Ola received her primary education in the public school system of Houston County in Ratcliff, Texas. She was always patient, kind, loving and known for giving encouraging words and guidance. Mae Ola was a faithful member of the Mt. Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. Joining in 1968, she actively served as the president of the Senior Mission and president of the Pastor's Aide Committee. She was a fierce prayer warrior and the oldest member of the church until health reasons forced her to relocate to Pearland, Texas. There, she worshipped and fellowshipped with members of the Briarchase Missionary Baptist Church family where members and friends loved her dearly.
