When Charles Leroy Roman was born on May 22, 1913, in Newcastle, Texas, his father, Charles, was 35 and his mother, Frances, was 31. He married Mary Carl Gilbert on March 24, 1934. They had four children during their marriage. He died on April 30, 1979, in Wilbarger, Texas, at the age of 65, and was buried in Vernon, Texas.
