Oma Sue Ballard Cowan, 70, of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011. She was born May 21, 1940, in Sweetwater, Texas, to A.D. and Oma Louise (Banner) Bishop. She moved to Lubbock in the 1960s and worked as a secretary for Western Title, Lubbock Abstract and West Texas Title before retiring. She was a member of the South Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Kent Ballard and wife Debbie of Lubbock; a daughter, Pam Cumby and husband David of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Clark Cumby and Whitney and Kaden Ballard; her father, A.D. Bishop of Lubbock; and two sisters, Sandra Holt of Lubbock and Vearl Dean Biggerstaff of Brownfield.
