Funeral services for Jennie Lea Howell, age 87 of Seminole, Texas will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at Westside Church of Christ in Seminole with Leo Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Lubbock Children’s Home. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole. Family visitation will be held Monday, January 28, 2019 at Boyer Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.

Jennie was born on May 8, 1931 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Emma Mae (Hill) and William Laurence Avery. She married L.E. Howell on January 13, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas. She was a devoted Christian and devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. Jennie always gave to others and never thought of herself. Her family was important to her. She donated her time to the Lubbock Children’s Home to give the house parents a break and would put her children back on track when they stumbled. She loved watching golf, reality shows, and documentaries, and was an avid reader. She also loved to cook and was an excellent cook.

Mrs. Howell passed peacefully with her family by her side on January 25, 2019 in Lubbock, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband L.E. “Lonnie” Howell; two sisters; and one nephew. She is survived by one son, Randall Howell and wife Mary Lu of Plainview; two daughters, Rhonda Howell of Seminole, Texas, and Renee McCollum and husband Rob of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren, Chance McCollum, Rodie McCollum, Riley McCollum, Addyson McCollum, William Devlin, Nicholas Howell, and Joel Devlin; and eight great-grandchildren, Maddoxx McCollum, Avi McCollum, Greyson McCollum, Bella Riddley, Carson Howell, Carter Howell, Sophia Beatley, and one on the way.
