Funeral Mass for Ramon Almager, Sr. age 71 of Seagraves, Texas will be celebrated Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Seminole, Texas with Most Rev. Robert M. Coerver, Bishop of the Diocese of Lubbock officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Rosary will be held Sunday, February 16, 2020 at St. James Catholic Church from 6 to 7 p.m. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

Mr. Almager was born August 23, 1948 in Artesia, New Mexico to Adelaida H. (DeHoyos) and Pedro G. Almager. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1968. He went on to further his education at Ranger College and then transferred to Sul Ross State University where he graduated with a degree in Spanish in 1972. He married Nordela Ortega Ramos on September 3, 1967 in Seminole, Texas. Ramon enjoyed football, baseball, track, elk hunting, snow skiing, construction, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He taught Spanish, Health, and English at Seminole ISD for three years and at Seagraves ISD for 25 years; he also taught his students how to play the game of chess. He always told his children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces and students the importance of education and to be people of good moral character. He was ordained as a deacon through the Catholic Diocese of Lubbock in 1996. He served for 20 years in Seminole and Seagraves parishes.

Ramon Almager, Sr. passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Lynnwood Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Levelland, Texas. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 52 years, Nordela O. Ramos Almager; his son Ramon R. Almager, Jr. and wife Mandi Coker Almager of San Antonio, Texas; his daughters, Coloma M. Almager Cox and husband Michael of Pflugerville, Texas, Dulcinea Almager and husband Andrew P. Garza of Lubbock, Texas, and Laleinah Almager and fiancé Nathan A. VanDenburgh of Denver City, Texas; one sister, Genoveva (Eva) Almager Ambriz and husband Joe of Seminole, Texas; two brothers, Adam Almager, Sr. and wife Jane of Seminole, Texas, and Reynaldo Almager of Marble Falls, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Maria S. Almager of Midland, Texas (wife of late brother Pedro Almager, Jr.) and Elodia G. Almager of Hondo, New Mexico (wife of late brother Jose Angel Almager); 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one great-uncle, Refugio Almager and wife Emma of Goliad, Texas; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Pedro Sr. and Adelaida Almaguer, and older brothers, Pedro Almager, Jr. and Jose Angel Almager.
