Funeral services for Norene Janelle Sullivan, age 89 of Seminole, Texas will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.at West Side Church of Christ with Ray Young officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. Visitation at Boyer Funeral Home will be Friday, February 28, 2020 from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the West Side Church of Christ Building Fund. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sullivan was born in Wink, Texas on October 10, 1930. She married Glen Roy Sullivan on April 14, 1964 at the home of James and Mary Jo Kennedy (her parents). She was a member of the Church of Christ for 75 years. Janelle worked as a librarian in the public schools for 36 years. She served on the Seminole ISD School Board for many years and had over 50 years of service in public education. As she was proud to say, she was the oldest school board member in the state of Texas. Janelle passed away at the Decatur Memorial Lodge in Decatur, Texas where she had lived the last six weeks of her life.
Janelle Sullivan is survived by her children, Connie Fowler and husband Curtis, Jana Gillispie and husband Bob, Gayla Parker and husband Gary, Glen Moore and wife Yvonne, and stepson Larry Sullivan and wife Theresa. All of Janelle’s children are graduates of Seminole High School. Her legacy also includes grandchildren, Paul, Chris, Penny, Jamie, Michael, Matthew, Katie, Zac, Mercer, Katrina, Kelly Scott, and Nelda, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include one brother, Weldon; three sisters, Sandra Herod and spouse Bill, Martha Nored and spouse Lynn, and Mary Eckert and spouse Miles; one brother-in-law, Al Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her precious husband, Glen; parents, James and Mary Jo Kennedy; one brother, James Lloyd Kennedy; and two sisters, Marjorie Campbell and Glenda Taylor.
