Denver City- Jewell Dean Hemmeline, 87, of Denver City, passed away Friday July 27, 2018 in Denver City.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Kyle Streun officiating. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

Jewell was born February 8, 1931 on the family farm near Lakeview in Lynn County, Texas to Dottie and Perry Harmonson. She married Royce Hemmeline on July 16, 1948.

Jewell graduated from New Home High School in 1948. After marriage she was a farm wife and mother in Lynn County and then Balmorhea where the family moved in 1955. At Balmorhea, a place she dearly loved, she worked in the school's Head Start program and started her college education at Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Jewell and the family moved to Denver City in 1967. While raising 5 kids, she began working in the medical profession for Dr. Keller Greenfield. After age 50, she completed her college education at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM, became a registered nurse and began a career at Yoakum County Hospital, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Baptist Churches at Lakeview and Balmorhea and at Denver City where she was a member for over 51 years.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, husband Royce Hemmeline, daughter Janda Hemmeline, and one granddaughter Anna Hemmeline.

Jewell is survived by four sons: Stanley Hemmeline and wife Miriam of Montgomery, Texas, Mark Hemmeline and wife Dawn of Carrolton, Texas, Dale Hemmeline of Round Rock, Texas, David Hemmeline and wife Kerri of the Woodlands Texas, a daughter Charla Snethen of Denver Colorado: a sister, Inda Faye Reeves of Lubbock, Texas, 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Denver City, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel.
