DENVER CITY - Gladys Marie Sides, 87, of Denver City, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005 in Brownfield. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 10:00 am in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Brooks officiating, assisted by Dr. Brian Gordon. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

Gladys was born. February 3, 1918 in DeLeon, Texas to John and Flora Mae Lightfoot. She married W. M. "Bill" Sides April 9, 1939 in Carbon, Texas. In 1952 she moved to Denver City where she worked at Denver City ISD for 18 years as a cafeteria supervisor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Lightfoot.

She is survived by her husband, W. M. "Bill" Sides, three sons, Billy M. Sides and John W. Sides of Denver City and Eddie R. Sides of Abilene; two daughters, Diane McDaniel of Bayfield, Colorado and Donna B. Hill of Las Vegas, Nevada; a brother, Bruce Lightfoot of Odessa and a sister, Johnnie Jones of Deer Park, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitations will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 6:30 8..00 pm for family and friends. Pallbearers will be: David Hill, Mike McDaniel, Stephen Sides, Sides, Dick Stafford and Stan Carter. Ratliff Funeral Home.

W. M. "Bill" Sides, 96, passed away June 27, 2012 in Denver City, Texas.

Bill was born on November 19, 1916 in Comanche County, Texas to Whit and Bertie Sides, the seventh of nine children. He graduated from Comyn High School in 1934. He married Gladys Lightfoot on April 9, 1939. He farmed in Comanche County until 1948 when the family moved to Levelland, Texas where Bill worked as a carpenter. In 1952 the Sides Family moved to Denver City where Bill was employed by the Shell Oil Company. After he retired from Shell in 1980, Bill and Gladys enjoyed camping, traveling and gardening. They traveled to the Holy Land, Okinawa, Canada and many places in the U.S.

Bill and Gladys were active members of the First United Methodist Church. They enjoyed the activities of the Yoakum County Senior Citizen Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys; his son in law Harold Hill; and his parents and all of his siblings.

Survivors include three sons; Bill and John Sides of Denver City, Eddie Sides and his wife Mary Anne of Abilene; two daughters; Diane McDaniels of Ignacio, Co; and Donna Hill of Henderson, NV; along with six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with interment at the Denver City Memorial Park under the directions of Ratliff Funeral Home. Memorials maybe made to the First United Methodist Church or the Yoakum County Senior Citizen Center of Denver City, Texas. Ratliff Funeral Home.
