DENVER CITY — Services for J.T. Townsend, 80, of Denver City will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Webb officiating.
Burial will be in Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
He died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002.
He was born June 13, 1922, in Hamlin and married Mary Jo Cox on Oct. 3, 1942, in Noodle. He served in the Army Air Corps from October 1942 to November 1945 in Lubbock and Bryan-College Station in aircraft maintenance.
He moved to Denver City in 1949 and was employed by Shell Oil Co. He retired from Shell after 27 years. He then owned and operated J&J Steam Cleaning for 26 years. He was a member of Denver City Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Two daughters, Mary Jeannette and Shirley Jean, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy Don of Odessa; two brothers, Weldon of Orange and Cliff of Midland; a sister, Donnie Sisk of Odessa; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Ratliff Funeral Home.
