Services were held Monday morning for Marie Garrison MEIER, aged 65, who died Saturday in Perryton.
She was born Marie MILLER on Jan. 17, 1916 in Oshkosh. Wis., the daughter of Christ and Marie MILLER. Her family moved to the Texas Panhandle in 1919.
A graduate of the American High School, she was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Darrouzett, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, organist, and a choir member.
In 1935, she married Fred M. KOCH in Lipscomb. Mr. KOCH died in September 1959. After his death, she made her home in Darrouzett for several years.
In March 1965, she married L. D. GARRISON and the couple made their home as 1201 S. Fordham in Perryton, where they were members of the First United Methodist Church. She was active in United Methodist Women. Mr. GARRISON died in July 1876.
While living in Perryton, she was employed with Dr. Max Wood as dental assistant. She was a member of the black Extension Homemakers Club and the Twilight Tillers Garden Club. In July 1979 she was married to Alex MEIER of Darrouzett and would later transfer her membership to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Darrouzett with the Rev. Perry Sloop officiating. Burial was in Darrouzett Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Survivors include her husband, Alex; three daughters, Mrs. Alfred CORCORAN of Follett, Mrs. Martha Cline MAZURA of Canyon, and Mrs. Sam MILLER of Tulsa, Okla.; a step-son, Alex MEIER of Darrouzett; a step-daughter, Helen BECHTOLD of Booker; five brothers, William MILLER and Fred MILLER, both of Darrouzett, Leo MILLER of booker, Victor MILLER of Follett , and George MILLER of Amarillo; two sisters, Emilie SCHOENHALS of Darrouzett and Ruth GINTER of Lipscomb; and 12 grandchildren.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Ochiltree General Hospital.
