Obituary:
Victor MILLER, 77, of Follett, died June 18, 1999 at Hemphill County Hospital in Canadian.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Darrouzett with Rev. William Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Darrouzett Cemetery, under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
He was born December 12, 1921 near Follett, and attended Darrouzett High School. He was a lifetime resident of the area. He married Lillian PEIL on April 20, 1947 in Darrouzett.
A veteran of World War II, he was awarded the World War II medal, American Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, among others.
A farmer and rancher, he received several awards in that field including the Lipscomb County Outstanding Conservationist award in 1959 and 1987, and was runner up in the Region 1 SWCD Outstanding Resident Farmer contest. He was also a member of the Lipscomb County Agriculture Committee, and served on the boards of the co-op, Farm Bureau and the Lipscomb County SWCD.
He also served on the Darrouzett School Board and the North Plains Water District, and served two terms as American Legion Post 635 commander. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving as treasurer and council member.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Follett; two sons, Dr. Ron MILLER of Plainview and Danny MILLER of Amarillo; one brother, Leo MILLER of Booker.
