Alvis J. Cooper (A.J.), 91 of Andrews, Texas, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Andrews, Texas.

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 4, 2011 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas. John Snyder will officiate. Burial was in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

A.J. was born May 22, 1919 in South Bend, Texas to William and Annie Cooper.

He married Sammie Allan January 27, 1947 in Monahans, Texas She preceded him in death in May of 2003. A.J. married Betty Thomas in 2005 in Odessa, Texas.

Mr. Cooper Served in the US Army during World War II. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and the organ. He also loved to dance. A.J. also enjoyed baseball, basketball and especially track. He loved watching television and reading western novels. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge and he also contributed to the Andrews County Veterans Memorial.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, William and Annie Cooper and a sister, Grechen Pardue.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Andrews; son, William Cooper of Midland, Texas; daughter, Debbie Beyers of Gainesville, Florida; and his grandson, Matthew Beyers of San Diego, California. Source: McNett Funeral Home, Andrews, Texas
