DENVER CITY-Irving Vance Lucky Harmon, 102, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, in Yoakum County Hospital in Denver City. Services will be Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Denver City. Officiating will be by the Reverend Billy Everett. Interment will follow in the Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

I.V. was born in Blue Grove, Texas, on Feb. 3, 1910, to Andrew Jackson Harmon and Harriett Hall Harmon. He married Louella Shaunfield in Henrietta, Texas, in 1929. I.V. served his country during WWII in the Army Corps of Engineers. He worked at many jobs over the years. While working for Texaco Oil Company, he played baseball on the company team. He moved to Denver City in 1950, where he owned and operated Denver City Electric and later owned a rental tool company. After retiring, he enjoyed helping out at Harmon Hardware Store and Supply. He loved baseball and traveling the Untied States with his beloved wife, Louella. I.V. was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Maxine; Louella, his wife of nearly 73 years; and his son, Jack.

Survivors are his daughter-in-law, Sandra Harmon; a granddaughter, Jan Connolly; great-grandson, Brandon Connolly; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Yoakum County Senior Citizens in Denver City or a favored church or charity.
