DENVER CITY - Susye Parish, 99, died Monday, May 25, 2009.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Denver City Memorial Park with the Rev. John Hardison of Denton officiating. Arrangements are by Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.

Mrs. Parish was born June 19, 1909, in Attala County, MS, in the Bear Creek Community near McCool, MS, to Richard Wade and Myrtle Johnson Wade.

She attended Bear Creek School and taught school for a year before marrying Alies Peeler in 1929. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church and resided in the Berea community for 25 years.

She moved to Denver City, TX in 1954. Mrs. Parish was a member of First Baptist Church of Denver City and was a homemaker.

She married Ira Parish in 1964. He preceded her in death in 1979.

Mrs. Parish also was preceded in death by two daughters, Bettye Jo Clark, in 1995, and Peggy Marie Cooke, in 2003; a son, Ralph Peeler, in 1999; and five brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Janette Neill of Amarillo; a sister-in-law, Ruth Wade of Toccoa, GA; a daughter-in-law, Reta Peeler of Denver City; a son-in-law, Clifton Clark of Plano; six grandchildren, including two being especially close to Grandma Susye, Christi Hardison of Denton and Greg Cooke of Monument, CO; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael, Marcus, and Daniel Cooke, great-grandsons, Greg Cooke, grandson, all of Monument, CO, John Hardison, Denton, TX and Tommy Johnson, Tucumcari, NM.
