Obituary
Richard Eugene "Gene" Black, 87, of Andrews, passed away early Saturday, December 18, 2010, at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2010 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. H.A. Hanks of Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Gene was born July 16, 1923 in Callahan County, Texas to James Robert and Ada Black. He served in the US Army.

Gene married Ann Gotcher February 27, 1952. She preceded him in death in 2001. He married Ida Jane Bailey August 3, 2002 in Andrews.

Gene moved to Andrews in 1969 from Anson, Texas. He worked for what became UNICAL for many years until his retirement in the early 1980's. He and Ann owned and operated Black's Greenhouse in Andrews for many years. Gene loved to play dominos with his friends and family and he was really good at 42 and chicken foot. He loved baseball and football and Gene loved to fish. He really loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his wife, Jane Black of Andrews; one son, Mike Black of Midland, Texas; two daughters, Rena Beth Wiese of Chattanooga, TN; and Donna Lee Masters of Jourdanton, Texas; one brother James Robert Black, Jr. of Abilene, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
