Maria Chavez, 83, of Andrews passed away early Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews, Texas. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Father Joey Faylona will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Maria was born August 31, 1927 in La Cieniga De Castillos, Mexico. She married Abraham Chavez February 27, 1954. They lived in Wickett, Texas for over 18 years before moving to Andrews nine years ago. She loved to go to church and she was there as soon as the doors were open. She loved to sing along with the church choir too. Maria also enjoyed cooking for people and going for walks.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Luis and Rafael Chavez, and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Abraham Chavez, Sr. of Andrews; three sons, Abraham Chavez, Jr. of Lubbock; Carlos Chavez of Andrews and Martin Chavez of Andrews; two brothers, Manuel Carbajal of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Gonzalo Carbajal of Kansas; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. www.mcnettfuneralhome.com
