Maria Garrett, 63, of Andrews passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at her home in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2015 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
She was born March 21, 1951 in La Yesca, Nayarit, Mexico to Antemio Castaneda Correa and Magdalena Castaneda Macias. She was a native of Guadalajara, Mexico. She migrated to the US in her 20’s where she met her husband H. Weldon Garrett while living in California. They were married in Reno, NV in March of 1979. The couple moved to Andrews in 1984 where they raised their family. Maria was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and she loved to read her Bible. She was a believer in having a personal relationship with the Lord and always prayed for and blessed her children. She was a great mother who loved unconditionally. Maria worked at many local restaurants thoughout the years but truly loved her place at El Portrillo. She will be remembered by many for her positive attitude and beautiful smile.
She was preceded to heaven by her husband January 20, 2004.
She is survived by her children, Christopher R. Garrett and wife Julie of Odessa; Maria M. Moreno and husband Hector of Andrews; H.W. (Andreux) Garrett and wife Alyson of Andrews K. Monique Garrett of Andrews; brothers, Rafael Castaneda Macias; Salvador Castaneda Macias; Juan Castaneda Macias; Jose Castaneda Macias; Miguel Castaneda Macias; sisters; Maria Del Refugio Castaneda Macias; Maria del Rosario Castaneda Macias; Laura Elena Castaneda Macias; Maricela Castaneda Macias; six grandchildren; Dalia N. Moreno of Andrews; Andrew K. Garrett of Andrews, Erin Scarlach of Odessa; Trent M. Ward of Andrews; Emily Scarlach of Odessa and Olivia M. Sanders of Andrews.
