Velton O. "Curley" Setzler, 86, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior Friday, November 4, 2016.

He was born December 17, 1929, in De Leon, to Clyde and Alma Parks Setzler. Curley married Saundra Mae Cranfill on November 1, 1952 in Jal, New Mexico.

Curley lived most of his life in Hobbs, N.M. and Andrews, Texas. He moved back to his childhood community of De Leon in 2016. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Andrews, Texas for many years and previously was a member of De Leon First Baptist Church. Curley retired as a District Manager in the oil field after many years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. Curley and Saundra enjoyed traveling with their children and grandchildren in their RV. Curley also loved to farm and ranch. He was a devoted Christian, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his son, Dean Setzler and wife, Janice; daughter, Teresa Howard and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Sheila Fisher and husband, Jason, Nikki Kalka and husband, Robert, Joshua Setzler and wife, Misty, and Lacey Clinkingbeard and husband, Ben; great-grandchildren, Dylan Fisher, Garret Fisher, Taylor Clinkingbeard, Meg Clinkingbeard, Lily Setzler and Jake Setzler; sisters, Jean Westmoreland and Linda Hall; brother, Donald Setzler and wife, Thelma; sister-in-law, Jeri Setzler; and other extended family.

Curley was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Saundra Cranfill Setzler; parents, Clyde and Alma Setzler; granddaughter, Chassidy Setzler; brothers, Arvil Setzler and wife, Merna Vee, and Wayne Setzler; sisters, Inez Roberson and husband, Fuzzy, and Sonnie Daniels and husband, A.D.; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hall and Euel Westmoreland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, De Leon, with Brother Daniel Harper officiating.

The Setzler family will receive friends from noon to service time Tuesday at the church.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in Andrews County Cemetery (North Addition) in Andrews, Texas, with Brother Brant O'Connor officiating.

Saundra Mae Setzler, age 81, was born July 17, 1934 in Big Spring,TX and passed away on September 15, 2015 in Andrews,TX. She married Velton (Curley) Setzler on November 1, 1952 in Jal, New Mexico. She retired from the Hobbs, New Mexico Public School system after 29 years of teaching. She also taught 3 semesters at the College of the Southwest in Hobbs. Saundra was a devout Christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Andrews,TX. She loved to play the piano and was an avid reader.

Saundra is survived by her husband Velton (Curley) Setzler; daughter -Teresa Howard and husband Dennis, son-Dean Setzler and wife Janice, grandchildren-Sheila Fisher and husband Jason, Joshua Setzler and wife Misty, Lacey Clinkingbeard and husband Ben, Nikki Kalka and husband Rob; great-grandchildren-Taylor and Meg Clinkingbeard, Dylan and Garrett Fisher, Lily and Jake Setzler; siblings-Nancy Curbow, Elizabeth Hayes, Betty Stevens and Earlene Grissom.
