Mrs. Durnie had been ill at her home for a long period of time. She had been a member of the Cameron Presbyterian church since 1910 and until her health became critical was faithful in attendance and always manifested an interest in the progress of the church of her faith.
Mrs. Durnie was born in Buffalo, Mew York, July 26, 1860, and came to Milam County when a young woman with her husband, the late F. A. Durnie who had been attracted to Texas by the urge which induced many of the pioneers to settle upon the prairies of the Lone Star state. Accordingly they settled at Curry, a prosperous community only a few miles north of the city and there made their home and reared their family. Mr. Durnie died in 1934.
When the family moved to Curry from their home in Buffalo, New York, Mr. Durnie purchased a large tract of land which on account of its nearness to the city limits has become valuable. When the funeral is held in the Presbyterian church Thursday the pastor will pay a tribute to the memory of this pioneer wife and mother.
The body will lie in state at the Green Funeral Home in Cameron until the funeral hour Thursday. The Green Funeral Home will direct arrangements with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
