Funeral services for Vera Durden Hammons, age 80, of Denver City, Texas will be held Friday, October 25, 2013 at Church of the Nazarene in Denver City, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor David Hollon officiating and Pastor Harold Brown assisting. Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park. All services are under the direction of Boyer Memorial Chapel in association with Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.

Mrs. Hammons passed away October 22, 2013 at Yoakum County Hospital. She was born September 30, 1933 in Justiceburg, Texas to Lucille (Melton) and Ernest Bevers. She married Truman Durden in Brownfield, Texas on March 26, 1948 and after his death, she remarried Calvin Hammons in Denver City, Texas on April 18, 1987. She was a homemaker and loved her family.

Vera was a member of the Church of Nazarene and enjoyed ceramics, sewing and crocheting. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Truman Durden; second husband, Calvin Hammons; and three brothers.

Mrs. Hammons is survived by three daughters, Sue Wright and husband Jerry of Gore, Virginia, Pam Albarez and husband Ruben of Denver City, Texas, and Debra Landon and husband Walt of Streetman, Texas; and two sisters, Juanita Monroe of Marshall, Texas and Sue Johnson and husband Joe Don of Levelland, Texas.
