Odessa - Robert L. Carlisle, 93 , of Odessa passed away Friday April 9 in Odessa. Funeral services were conducted graveside Saturday in the Gaines County Cemetery under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
Robert was born December 15, 1926 near Cisco to Joseph and Cora Carlisle. He graduated from O’Donnell High School after taking time off to serve in the US Navy during World War II where he fought in the South Pacific and was stationed on Guam for a period of time. He married Thelma Mott Jan. 5, 1948 in O’Donnell. He began his farming career in Gaines County in 1951 and then in the late 1950’s moved his farming operation to Reeves County but moved back to farm in Gaines County in 1971.
Robert is survived by his three children Randy Carlisle and his wife Loudean of Seminole, Connie Hesse and her husband Ralph of Uvalde, and Linda Parker and her husband Billy of Odessa; a son-in-law Hill Glover; three brothers Marvin of Wills Point, Melvin of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Richard of Arlington; also a sister Margaret Waldrop of Bossier City, Louisiana; along with six grandchildren including Jeff Carlisle and his wife Amber of Gaines County and 10 great-grandchildren including Taylor and Creed Carlisle also of Gaines County.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Seminole Veterans’ Memorial. Seminole Sentinel April 15, 2020.
