November 19, 1910 - July 25, 1991
Audry Newton of Waco, former cook, died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 80.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at China Spring Cemetery, the Rev. Bill Moody officiating.
Mrs. Newton was born Nov. 19, 1910, in Jack County and was reared and attended school in Bridgeport. She was married to Luther Newton, who died July 31, 1973.
She lived in Waco for more than 50 years and was a cook for several years at the Waco State Home.
She was a member of Herring Avenue United Methodist church.
Survivors include eight daughters, Doris Fitzhugh, Marie Jaynes and Mary Kelly, all of Waco, Peggy Parks of Austin, Lois Dyess of Denison, Jeannie Melton of Houston, Helen Mathis of Tucson, Ariz., and Nancy Taylor of Dallas; a sister, Vaude Bailey of Bridgeport; a brother, Edgar Early of Troy; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
The family has designated Herring Avenue United Methodist church for memorials.
