John R. Parish, 85, of Andrews passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Brant O’Connor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, from 5-7 pm at McNett Funeral Home. John was born February 19, 1931 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Reuben and Leah Eskridge Parish. He graduated from Iowa Park High School in 1948 and attended Midwestern State University. John married Janine Welch on June 24, 1949 in Bowie, Texas. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. John moved his family to Andrews in 1956, he worked for Tretolite Company retiring after 19 years. John formed the John R. Parish Company and was still active with the company at his death. John was very active in Andrews serving on the School Board many years; was a member of the Permian Regional Medical Center board, Andrews Industrial Foundation and was on the board of directors of Commercial State Bank. He was a strong supporter of getting Waste Control Specialist located in Andrews. John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janine on October 12, 1995. John married Dottie Ervin on November 1, 1996 in Odessa, she passed away on August 24, 2002. He also was preceded in death his son, John T. Parish on August 12, 2004 and by four brothers; Leonard, Russell, Jerry, and Gene.
John is survived by a daughter, Leah and husband Charles Wells of Weslaco, Texas, daughter in law Paula Parish of Waco, Texas; step-son Andy Ervin and wife Darlyne Ervin of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Blair Wells, Wendy Wells, Malarie Wells, Padgett Parish Ogden, Newell Parish, Malcolm Parish, Caitlyn Ervin Tidwell, and Drew Ervin; eleven great grandchildren; longtime companion Bobbie Allen and family, longtime employee’s Jana Peters and Efren Hernandez.
