Johnnie A. Smith, Sr, age 91, of Stamford, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in Abilene, Texas.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Friday, February 19, 2016 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Brown, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street

Johnnie was born on June 15, 1924 in Fannin County, Texas to William H. and Myrtle Adair Smith. He attended school at Telephone, Texas. Johnnie moved to Odessa in 1954.

He married Elwanda Helen Renner on May 4, 1955 in Lovington, New Mexico.

He worked for Webb - Davis Fruit Company for 12 years and for Singer Company for 10 years in Odessa. Johnnie and Elwanda owned and operated J & W Sewing Center in Odessa for many years. He loved the Lord and Loved to fish in that order. Johnnie was a long time member of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church of Odessa. He had a very likeable and jolly personality.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elwanda Smith; parents; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by 2 sons, Johnnie A. and wife Beverly Smith; Jerry Lynn and wife Darline Smith; 1 daughter Janet Kay Allen of Springfield, Missouri; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. mcnettfuneralhome.com
