DENVER CITY - George L. Sorrel, 81, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Denver City Memorial Park by Ratliff Funeral Home.
Mr. Sorrel was born in Vernon, Ill. A veteran of World War II, he moved to Denver City in 1949 and later retired as an operator for Shell Oil Co. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Faith Baptist Church.
He married Faye Patterson in 1960 at Denver City. She died in 1997.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Paula Dollar and Helen Weaver, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Ethel Marteness of Washington, Ill., and Geraldine Kayahs of Decatur, Ill.; a brother, Marvin Sorrel of Mount Zion, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. www.amarillodailynews.com
