Cross Plains, TX -- James R. Clark, age 82, of Brownwood passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 in Stephenville at a local nursing home. The family will receive friends and relatives for a time of sharing memories on Wednesday, May 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains with Pastor Barry Ezra officiating; burial will follow in the Cross Plains Cemetery.
He was born on July 27, 1927 in Santa Anna, Texas to William and Vera Lea (Andrew) Clark. He married Ruby Lee Holcomb on February 3, 1946 in Wichita Fall, Texas. He worked in the oil field for several years and then worked as a bread salesman. He served in the U.S Army during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lee Clark of Brownwood; sons, Jimmy Clark and wife Mary of Anson; Bobby Clark and wife Judy of Beeville; daughter, Patricia Becktold and husband Robert of Early; sisters Nelda Hardin and husband Max of Abilene; Doris Jones of Abilene; sister in law Marie Wetsel Clark of Abilene; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill & Vera Clark, brothers William and Robert "Bobby" Clark, sister Dorothy Clark, daughter Diane Clark, and granddaughter Windy Clark.

Ruby Lee (Holcomb) Clark, age 81 of Brownwood, went to be with her Heavenly Father and her husband of 64 years on Sunday, August 1, 2010. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains with Barry Ezra officiating; assisted by Smithy Ryan; burial will follow in Cross Plains Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, August 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruby was born on October 11, 1928, in Rule, TX to Wesley and Daisy (Conger) Holcomb. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
For many years Ruby worked in retail sales; always enjoying greeting the public. She was a devoted Christian. She shared her love of Christ with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and sharing goodies as well as sending cards to her friends to remind them how special they were to her. Beyond her love for Christ was her love for her family. We all knew we were loved and will miss her dearly.
She is survived by two sons; Jimmy Clark and wife Mary of Anson; Bobby Clark and wife Judy of Beeville; one daughter, Patricia Becktold and husband Robert of Early; mother, Daisy Holcomb (99 years old) of Cross Plains; brother Gerald Holcomb from Clyde; sister Judy Livingston from Gustine; and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren who will truly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband James R. Clark; dad Wes Holcomb; daughter Diane and great granddaughter Windi Clark.
