Mrs. G. C. DUKE of Lipscomb County died at Canadian, Texas on March 4th. Mrs. DUKE was one of the pioneer women of the west part of Lipscomb County. She was born in Cass County, Missouri on February 26, 1873. In 1877 she moved with her parents to Kansas where they lived until 1891 when they moved to the Panhandle where in 1892 she was married to Charles DUKE, who died in 1905. Five sons were born to this union, four of whom are living Basil, Cruise, Kay and Joe. Govan, the other boy, died in 1923. In May 1912, the deceased was married at G. C. DUKE, who with four sons is left to mourn her departure. Mrs. DUKE left a number of sisters and brothers. The remains were laid to rest in the Lipscomb cemetery.
