Bessie Lee Fausset Altmiller Duke, 91, of Darrouzett, passed away into the Lord's loving arms on August 5, 2019 in Booker.

Memorial Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Darrouzett with Pastor Scott Richards, officiating. Services are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Bessie Lee was born August 15, 1927, in Darrouzett to Elizabeth and Fred Fausset. She lived in and around Darrouzett all her life, graduating from Darrouzett High School in 1944.

She married Charles Ray Altmiller, Jr. on July 29, 1945. To this union, three children were born; Sherrie Elaine, Coetta Ann and Bradford Ray. Charlie was killed in a pickup accident on May 24, 1953. Bessie Lee then attended San Jacinto Beauty College in Amarillo and had a beauty shop in her home in Darrouzett for several years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Darrouzett. On October 7, 1956, Bessie Lee married Bobby K. Duke. To this union, three children were born; Kay Lee, Barbie Dee and Robert Dean.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Bobby K; six brothers, Alfred, Kenneth, Loren, Haurice, Maurice and Russell; and three sisters, Viola Henry, Frances McClung and Ruth Terrel.

Bessie Lee is survived by three daughters, Sherrie Burns of Amarillo, Coeta Rhodes and husband Rick of Weatherford, and Barbara Slatton and husband Ricky of Amarillo; three sons, Bradford Altmiller and wife Mary, Kay Duke and wife Michele, and Robert Duke and wife Kimberly, all of Darrouzett; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
