SPEARMAN - Georgia I. McLeod, 88, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mrs. McLeod was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Pampa to B.J. and Ada Lomax. She married Rock McLeod in 1941 in Spearman and raised six children.

She ran Cattleman's Cafe and many others through the years. Georgia, or Granny, as most knew her, lived life to the fullest. She served more eggs in Hansford County than chickens can lay. When she was in the cafe window, her favorite saying was, "If you can't haul 'em, don't call 'em."

She was quick to laugh, loved to shop and was a shark at Wahoo - sometimes even counting a few extra dots on the dice in her favor. She was crowned Ms. Heritage Days and served Spearman proud as the parade Grand Marshal. Granny will live on in a legacy to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will always have "Granny" stories to tell forever and make all who hear them laugh and laugh. Her humor, spunk and love of family will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1963; and a daughter, Reba Kay Hamilton.

Survivors include four daughters, Roxie Evans, Rita Faye Underwood and Reva Jean Hand, all of Spearman, and Edna Sue Holloway of Justin; a son, Jimmy Glenn McLeod of Spearman; two sisters, Betty Davis of Granbury and Wanda Terrell of Abilene; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081; or Hansford Cemetery Association, 707 E. Second St., Spearman, TX 79081.
