Litch “Sparky” Sparks, 94, passed away Tuesday August 7, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday August 13, 2018 at the WTHS Field House Gym in Stinnett, Texas with Pastor James Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Old Hansford Cemetery in Spearman, Texas under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Sunday August 12, 2018 at the funeral home in Spearman.

In lieu of flowers his memory may be honored with a gift to the First Christian Church, PO Box 517, Stinnett, Texas 79083 or to a charity of choice.

Sparky was on born on March 1, 1924 in Springfield, Co. to Litchford and Cora Sparks. At an early age the moved to Old Hansford outside of Spearman and lived on a dairy farm. Growing up he had to milk cows twice a day, he had a saying “on a dairy, every day is Monday”. He went to Spearman High School where he met the love of his life Pearl Robertson. They married on December 16, 1944 when he was on leave before he shipped off to serve in WWII.

Sparky and Pearl bought a laundry on main street in Stinnett when he returned from the service. After a short stint in Bakersfield, CA he realized he was a Texan and moved back to Stinnett where he worked for the post office, eventually becoming the Postmaster. After he retired from the postoffice he ran for County Commissioner where he served for 8 years. He drove a school bus for many years, where he enjoyed being around kids and watching them grown up.

He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church where he was very active and loved the Lord. He loved to play music and had a band called The Wild Turkeys. They would play for dances, nursing home and other town events. He loved to fish, every summer he would take a trip to South Fork Colorado where he would meet friends and family. Sparky never met a stranger and loved everyone. He leaves behind many lifelong friends. He was a positive influence on everyone he met.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Pearl, brothers, Aubie, James, Roscoe, and W.E. Sparks; sisters, Opal Boxford, Owassa Nettles Valdez, Shirley Talley, Billie Jo Kelley and Mary Ann Snodgrass.

Survivors include his daughter Zontee and son-n-law David of Tampa Fl. Grandsons, Jeremy Morgan of Phoenix, AZ and Daylin Morgan of Austin, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving friends. www.boxwellbros.com

STINNETT - Pearl Sparks, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church in Stinnett with the Rev. Billy Holland and the Rev. Jim West officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery in Spearman by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Pearl was born July 24, 1925, in Strong City, Okla. She married Litch Sparks Jr. on Dec. 16, 1943, in Spearman.

She was valedictorian of Spearman High School in 1943.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Stinnett.

Survivors include her husband, Litch Sparks Jr.; a daughter, Zontee Morgan and husband David of Flower Mound; a brother, Lowell Robertson of Perryton; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International, P.O. Box 2304, Amarillo, TX 79105.
