SPEARMAN - Ruth Mary Whitson, 90, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whitson was born July 29, 1914, in Garber, Okla., and had lived in the area since 1934. She married Jack Whitson on Nov. 29, 1934, in Sunray. She taught fourth grade at Spearman Elementary School from 1958 to 1978. She was a member of First Christian Church of Spearman, O.E.S. and Spearman Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 5, 1979; and her parents, Charles and Ruth King.
Survivors include three sons, Bill of Spearman, Bob of College Station and Tom of Powell, Wyo.; two daughters, Betty and Frances, both of Dumas; a sister, Barbara Jean Finley of Houston; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Jack H. and Ruth Mary Whitson Scholarship Fund, WTAMU Foundation, P.O. Box 60766, Canyon, TX 79016; or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
