HIRAM F. ELLIOTT BURIED AT SALEM

Hiram F. Elliott, 88, died Sunday, January 30, 1944, at the home of his grand son, Marvin Elliott at Salem.
Mr. Elliott died on the eve of his 89th birthday for he was born on January 31, 1855, in Austin county. Death came to the pioneer at 4 p. m. Sunday. He had been ill for some time due to advanced age and failing health.
Funeral services were at 4 p. m. Monday, January 31, 1944, with services at the Salem Methodist Church. Rev. K. B. Isbell, pastor First Methodist Church in Cameron, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Salem Cemetery with the Green Funeral Home directing arrangements.
Mr. Elliott married Miss Jane Dodd of Giddings. She passed away 10 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Elliott, were the parents of five children, two of whom are dead. They were Mrs. Nora Wilson and Rush Elliott. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Mullinax of Buckholts; Mrs. Ella Cass of Gause and Nathan Elliott of Cameron. Two adopted children survive as follows: Homer Brashear and Odell Brashear.
One sister, Mrs. Eliza Campbell of Coleman, survive and one brother, Sam Elliott of Santa Anna, survives. There are 25 grand children and 19 great grand children.
