Frank
June 3, 1939 - May 7, 2019
*Obituary
Frank Emil Kovar was born on June 3, 1939 in Ellinger, TX to Henry and Sophie Prihoda Kovar. The youngest of six children, Frank had many siblings to keep up with. As a child, he kept busy doing tasks on the family farm. He attended St John’s Catholic School in Fayetteville, TX until the sixth grade, where he then went off to work at DOW Chemical. After his time there, in 1957, he and his brother Henry started doing Cornish work, which then lead them to start subcontracting houses under the title “Kovar Construction”.
Frank married his wife of 52 years, Rose Sabrsula Kovar, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church on Sept 5, 1960. Along the way, they had two sons, Brian and Kenneth. They lived in Houston for 12 years before moving back to their farm in Wallis in 1972.
Frank had a great career building houses and even built some of the first houses in the First Colony and Greatwood area. He continued to build houses from 1959 to 1995, building his last house for his son and daughter-in-law. When Frank wasn’t building houses, he could usually be found on a farm. One of his greatest joys was raising cattle and he loved everything that came with this passion. Whether it was on his farm in Ellinger or in Wallis, he enjoyed doing the tasks that came with the land. He and Rose both had a farm from where they grew up, Frank in Ellinger and Rose in Wallis. Even in his later years, he still helped with the cattle and around the farm with the help of his sons and grandchildren. Frank passed away in his home on May 7, 2019 in Wallis, TX.
He is preceeded in death by his wife Rose Kovar; parents, Henry and Sophie Kovar; and siblings Henry, Sophie, Mary Ann, Freddie, Doris, and Henry.
He is survived by his two sons, Brian & wife, Becky Kovar, Kenneth & wife, Wanda Kovar of Wallis, and his grandchildren, Allan, Erin, Savanah, Sierra & Travis Kovar of Wallis.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2019, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 5518 Demel Street, Wallis, Texas. A Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.
