Graveside services for Velma Lucille Boydstun, 74, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin O'Brien. Interment is under direction of Sanders Funeral Home. Mrs. Boydstun died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004. She was born to the late Jesse and Iva Satterfield on Oct. 29, 1929, in Denton, Texas. She graduated from Silverton High School.
She married M.B. "Cotton" Boydstun in 1947 in Silverton; he preceded her in death. She then married Edward Eugene Sloan in 1971 in Plainview; he also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church. A son, Rodger Dale Boydstun preceded her in death July 20, 1974.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Kent of Knoxville, Tenn., Judy Boydstun of Quitaque, DeLaine Callaway of Slaton, and Barbara McDaniel of Gatesville, Texas; five sons, J.R. Boydstun of Fort Worth, Clarence Boydstun of Slaton, William Boydstun of Fort Hood, Mark Boydstun of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Kenneth Gene Sloan of Fort Hood; a brother, Carl "Boots" Satterfield of Plainview; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
