Donald Ray Tippit, 89, of Paris, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2019 with family by his side at Paris Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Dr. John Cannon officiating.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Don was born March 23, 1930, to Edgar Lee & Lizzie Mae Rush Tippit, in Annona, Texas. He was a floor covering installer most of his life in Lubbock and Paris, Texas. Don worked out of a variety of stores, to include owning Tippit Carpet Store in Paris, Texas. Don was a hard worker, retiring multiple times before he stopped installing flooring when he was 84 years old. Don, who was affectionately known as “Fess” to family & friends, loved fishing, camping, driving around the country site seeing and being around family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Donald Ray Tippit, Jr.; brother, J. D. Tippit and sister, Christine Tippit Christopher.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Frances “Fran” Tippit, son, Doyle Wayne (Andrea) Tippit; sister, Joyce (Alvie) DeBord, brothers, Wayne Tippit, Edward (Janice) Tippit, and Ron (Jerri Dee) Tippit; grandchildren, Michelle Tippit, Jennifer Tippit and Devon Tippit, along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Honorary casket bearers will be: Don Wear, Yogi Hughes, Ken McGuire, Wayne Kerby, Mike Crews, Vernon Draper, Lynn Howard, Ed Miller and Bob Skinner.
