Friday, April 12, 1957:
Jesse D. Ritchey, 82-year-old Wacoan who formerly resided in Gatesville, died early Monday in a Waco hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Seventh and James Baptist Church in Waco, Rev. Nelson G. Mink and Rev. Charles E. Donnell Jr. officiating.
Burial was in the Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, with Scott's in charge.
Mr. Ritchey was born Sept. 29, 1874, at Coleman. He moved to Arkansas when a child and later moved to northeast Texas. He had lived in Gatesville before moving to Waco about four years ago.
He was a building contractor.
Mr. Ritchey was a member of the Baptist Church. He was active in church work, having served as Sunday School superintendent and song leader.
Survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Hill of Hartman, Ark., and Mrs. James O. McLeod of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Calvin Tull of Waco; four stepsons, Earven Coe of Amarillo, Clifton Coe of Waco, Joe Ben Coe of Dallas and Millard Coe of Houston; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Ritchey of Prattsville, Ark., and Lee Ritchey of Pine Bluff, Ark.; and two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Keese of Benton, Ark., and Mrs. Anna Nix of Sulphur Springs.
