Rosary for Virginia Pena, 85, of Abernathy, Texas will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 in St. Isidore Catholic Church with Rev. Jacob Puthuparambil officiating.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 in the same church with the same officiant. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas.
Mrs. Pena died Tuesday, August 17, 2010, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born Feb. 26, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas. She married Jose Pena on September 16, 1944 in Laredo, Texas. They moved to Abernathy in January of 1972 from Petersburg, Texas. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Crusillistas and Guadalapanas.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 10, 2008, and a son, Felix Pena, in April of 1958.
She is survived by two daughters, Maria Guadalcasar (Edward) of Lubbock, TX and Alice Henderson Kiker (Larry) of Odessa, TX; a brother, Jose Mata (Janie) of Laredo, TX; five grandchildren, Joe Guadalcasar (Nancy), Crystal Delgado (Rudy), Mark Guadalcasar, Tim Henderson and Zachary Henderson; and nine great-grandchildren, Harley, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Abigail, Ca'Miaya, Malia, Anthony, Marquon and Kloie.
