A.L. MASSENGALE IS DEAD AT MAYSFIELD
A. L. Massengale, 63, a native of Milam county, died suddenly Monday afternoon, April 23, 1945, from a heart attack while attending the funeral of Mrs. David H. Smith at the Presbyterian Church at Maysfield.
Mr. Maysfield participated in the funeral services by assisting with the choir music. He collapsed while walking down the steps of the church following the funeral service and died a few minutes later at a residence hear the church.
Mr. Massengale was born April 9, 1882, at Maysfield and had lived there all his life. The Massengale family had been identified with the community for many years, owning and operating farm interests there.
Surviving are his widow and five children as follows: Mrs. Fannie Hodges of Marlin; Ralph Massengale, United States Navy, now stationed at Corpus Christi and veteran of the Alaskan and Aleutian Islands campaign; Mrs. Harold Jones of Minerva; Miss Birdie Una Massengale of Maysfield; and Alfred Massengale of Freeport. One sister, Mrs. E. D. Kelso of Maysfield survives. H. W. Massengale, brother, died two years ago at his home near Maysfield.
Funeral service were to be held Wednesday, April 25, 1945, at the Maysfield Presbyterian church, at 3 p. m. by Rev. H. M. Bailey, pastor. Interment in the cemetery at Little River with the Marek - Burns Funeral Home in Cameron directing arrangements.
Pall bearers were: Will Vaughan of Cameron; H. L. Yager, J. P. Wise, W. C. Freeman, E. W. Massengale and Robert Massengale of Maysfield.
