Laura Anna Kesterson Fomby, 80, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in a local nursing home after a long and courageous battle from Parkinson's disease.
Laura was born July 24, 1933 in Atlanta, Texas.
She was retired from Collom & Carney Clinic and was a surgical nurse for Dr. Norris Knight. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and former member of First Baptist Church Moores Lane and Rose Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gayle Kesterson in 1994 and Kenneth Fomby in 2007 and one son Tony Kesterson in 2003.
Laura was a joy to be around. She loved to shop until she dropped with her family and friends. She loved to travel, play cards, dominoes, bunko, farkel, bingo, and didn't like to lose! While a resident at Reunion Plaza for the past 6 years, she had many new and old friends and a loving staff who took excellent care of her.
Laura is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Tom and Virginia Kesterson; two step sons and step daughter-in-laws: Carl and Kathy Fomby, Robert and Sherri Fomby; former daughter-in-laws Karen (Jay) Cowan and Lesa Kesterson; two brothers and sister-in-laws, James and Bobby Wall and Charles "Cooter" and Becky Wall; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Art Davis; one sister-in-law Kathryn Wall; 6 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a number of relatives and friends.
Private burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
