Charline Snodgrass Evans
May 14, 1927 - February 15, 2018
Charline Evans, formerly of Borger, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence in Midland, Texas. She was born May 14, 1927 to Hiram and Vera Snodgrass who resided in Borger, Texas. Because there were no doctors in Borger, at that time, her parents went to Prescott, Arkansas when it was time for the new baby to arrive. Consequently, her birthplace is listed as Prescott, Arkansas, but she never lived there.
Charline joined the First Baptist Church of Borger when she was eight years old. She remained faithful to the Baptist church and its doctrines for the remainder of her life. She and her husband, Wayne, moved to Midland in 2007 and they immediately joined the First Baptist Church where she enjoyed the camaraderie of the Stephen Department.
In 1944 she graduated from Stinnett High School at the age of 16. After high school graduation, she received both her Bachelor and Master's degrees from West Texas State University. In 1946 she married Robert Wayne Evans, a high school classmate and World War II veteran. They made their home in Borger, where they lived until October 2007, when they moved to Midland to be near their daughter and her family. Charline enjoyed a 30-year teaching career in the Borger Independent School District. Along with their professional careers, she and her husband, Robert Wayne Evans, developed a successful real estate business in Borger, Texas from 1972 until 2007, owning The Heritage Apartments, The Virginian Apartments, Motel 4, Stinnett Drive-In restaurant and numerous rental properties.
Charline was also a successful trader of stocks, which she learned from her father. She continued trading and studying various strategies, until shortly before her death. In the early 1990's, she became well known for a trading strategy which came to be known as "Charline's Method". Many people have found the strategy to be a great resource for trading in a volatile market. She never received any payment for the strategy, but shared on an open forum in the hope of helping others.
Charline was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Vera Snodgrass; husband, Robert Wayne Evans, son, Roy Wayne Evans; and brother, H. H. "Buddy" Snodgrass.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Kelly Cooke of Midland, Texas; granddaughter, Valerie Cooke Boyt and husband Eric Boyt and their three daughters, Rachael, Lauren, and Kaleigh of Midland, Texas; a grandson, Charles R. Cooke, and wife Kenia, and their two daughters, Madisyn and Emrie, of Odessa, Texas; a granddaughter, Gina Evans Eubank, her husband, Jamie, and their two sons Brandon and Blake Eubank of McKinney, Texas; and a brother Joe B. and his wife Linda Snodgrass of Weatherford, Texas.
She was known for her deep love of family, and her optimistic outlook. She is fondly remembered for her friendliness and kindness by the staff and residents at The Village of Manor Park. God provided outstanding and professional caregivers to Mrs. Evans as she approached the end of her life. The family would like to express sincere gratitude for the love and excellent care extended to her by the administration and staff of The Village at Manor Park Independent Living, Helen Greathouse Manor Assisted Living, The Mabee Center registered nurses, aids, and CNAs, as well as Younger Center's most compassionate staff of registered nurses, aids, CNAs and social workers. The employees did more than care for the physical needs of Mrs. Evans, they extended kindness, to the family as they cared for Mrs. Evans and assisted in her having the best compassion and friendship to her every day.
