Graveside services for Belen Frances Saldana, age 77 of Seminole, Texas will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Gaines County Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jose De Dios Gonzalez officiating. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Saldana went to eternal rest with her Lord on September 3, 2020. She was born on July 16, 1943 to Genaro and Theresa Cabrera. She grew up in Rotan and met the love of her life, Joe Saldana in Seminole. They were married in 1967 and made a beautiful life in Seminole for 53 years. They moved to Ballinger in 2019.
Belen was an active member of St. James Catholic Church for over 40 years. There, she was president of Our Lady of Guadalupe Society for many years, taught CCD, helped with countless fall festivals, and was a Catholic Family Services counselor for several years. Belen was a wonderful people person, enjoyed life to its absolute fullest, took pride in her cooking and baking, but most of all loved her Lord and family. After her mother passed in 2004, Belen became the family matriarch and was a rock and guide for her siblings and ensured traditions and holidays continued. Belen was a unique, beautiful soul inside and out and will be missed by all of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Theresa; and brothers Sofonias, Ruben, Tony and Genaro Cabrera, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Saldana; her children Sailor Cabrera, Elizabeth Garza and Joe, Ricky Garcia and Denise, James Ammons, Patricia Saldana, and Joe Ray Saldana and Lorena; siblings Nancy Dixon, Daniel Cabrera, Josie Rodriquez and Frank, Alicia Molina and Daniel, Stella Nombrano, and Cynthia Martinez and Roger; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
