Paul Matthew McLaughlin, 85, of Borger died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at 2:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be graveside at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stinnett Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. McLaughlin was born on Sept. 24, 1915. He was raised in Powell, Wyo., with three sisters and one brother. He left Powell and attended the University of Oklahoma for a Petroleum Engineering degree. He married Lexie Hill in Feb. 1939. They lived in Arkansas for 13 years where Mr. McLaughlin was Director of the Oil and Gas Commission and farmer. They moved to Borger in 1959. Mr. McLaughlin enjoyed horses and always had several. He had a kind heart for all animals. He never passed up a stray. He enjoyed his grandchildren and traveled extensively, with his wife, all over the U.S., to Mexico, Hawaii and Korea. They were members of St. John's Catholic Church. Mr. McLaughlin will be missed He was an honorable man.
Survivors include one son, Paul M. McLaughlin, Jr.; two daughters, Joan Casey and Marie Avery; seven grandchildren, Phillip Casey, Gary Casey, Brenda Hamrick, Dawn Harbin, Russell McLaughlin, Wade McLaughlin and Heath McLaughlin; 11 great-grandchildren, Brian and Justin Casey, Cristina Casey, Misty and Jessica Griffin, Zackeryn Miller, Jerimiah and Robert Hamrick, Garret and Brandon Harbin and Amy McLaughlin.
