STINNETT — John Baley Reed of Stinnett died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Stinnett. Burial will follow at the Stinnett Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

John was born March 24, 1925 in Paris, Ark., to Thomas Harley and Gladys Vivian Suggs Reed. John and Vera were married March 1, 1952, in Clayton, N.M. He joined the Navy on April 24, 1943 and served in World War II as a Seaman First Class SV-6. He was a Production Supervisor at J.M. Huber. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Stinnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred Reed; three nephews, Bob Jarvis, Ricky Reed and Casey Aylor; and a granddaughter, Erin Fletcher.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; two sons, Blaine and wife Teresa Reed of Stinnett and Eddie Jack Reed of Fritch; a daughter, Shelly and husband Darrell Fletcher of Sweeny; a sister, Dora Lee Jarvis of Stinnett; two brothers, Douglas and wife Oletha Reed of Borger and Jackie and wife Sue Reed of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family extends a special appreciation to Christi and Polly, BSA Hospice nurses, for their loving care of John.

The family will receive friends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Stinnett.
