SPEARMAN - Fred Holt, 84, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Holt School with the Rev. Russell Pogue officiating. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Holt was born in Hutchinson County and was a lifetime resident of Spearman. A farmer, he was a former trustee of Holt and Spearman School Districts and a member and former trustee of First Baptist Church.

He married Wren Loftin in 1939 at Spearman.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Susan Kidder of Spearman and Hazel Slyter of Augusta, Kan.; a son, Mike Holt of Pilot Point; three brothers, O.C. Holt of Amarillo, Dr. Joseph Newton Holtof Fort Worth and Nolan Holt of Spearman; a sister, Myrle Holt of Spearman; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Holt Cemetery Association.

SPEARMAN - Wren Loftin Holt, 84, died Friday, July 26, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Pogue officiating. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Holt was born in Iola in 1917. She lived in Spearman for 69 years, moving from Shawnee, Okla. She married Fred Holt in 1939 in Spearman. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years and was a member of Women's Missionary Union.

She was the Hutchinson County Extension Clubs Woman of the Year for 2002. She had been a member of the Home Demonstration Club for 53 years and a homemaker for 62 years.

She attended Tarleton State College and graduated from West Texas State Teacher's College in 1938. She taught school in Spearman for one year. She was a member of the 20th Century Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolphus and Hazel Loftin; a brother, Paul Loftin; and a sister, Oscilee Loftin.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Kidder of Spearman and Hazel Slyter of Augusta, Kan.; a son, Mike Holt of Pilot Point; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Holt Schoolhouse Fund, First Baptist Church Library or Hansford Hospice.
