SPEARMAN - Mabel Jameson, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Holt Cemetery south of Spearman with the Rev. Ken Cole, of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman.
Mrs. Jameson was born in Hutchinson County on Jan. 25, 1909, one of nine children, to L.G. and Hattie Andrews. Her maternal grandparents were Samuel and Rebecca Sheets and paternal grandparents were Robert and Thursa Andrews.
She attended school at the Holt Community School in Colorado. Her family returned to Spearman in 1922 where she met and married Leonard Jameson on Oct. 8, 1927. Their marriage was blessed with their only child, Neal, born on Sept. 22, 1940.
She was employed by Dr. Hackley and also by the Rexall Drug Store in Spearman. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, The Golden Spread Senior Citizens Center, a charter member of the Business and Professional Women, former member of the Gladiola Flower Club and once was an avid bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Leonard, in 1993; son, Neal, in 1971, two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include three sisters, Dora Womble, Lola Newcomb and Myrtle DeArmond, all of Spearman; 20 nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.
The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 S. Roland, Spearman, TX 79081; First United Methodist Church, 407 S. Haney, Spearman, TX 79081; or Golden Spread Center, P.O. Box 733, Spearman, TX 79081.
