Johnny A. Blanton, 26, was killed Wednesday morning near Monroe, La. during an industrial accident.
The former Phillips resident fell from a drilling rig and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Monroe hospital.
Mr. Blanton was born May 14, 1952 at Borger and had been a lifetime resident of Phillips until three years ago when he moved to Monroe.
He was graduated from Phillips High School in 1970 and was a former employee of Phillips Petroleum Co. Refinery and NGL Center.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Phillips.
Services for Mr. Blanton will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Phillips. The Rev. Walter Goodnight, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.
Surviving are his wife, Kay; two sons, Randy and Allen Hammons, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny W. Blanton of Phillips; a brother, Perry of Phillips; two sisters, Mrs. Kathy Wilson of Smithville and Mrs. Patricia McAnally of Fritch; and his grandmothers, Mrs. Lillian Cannon of Monroe, La. and Mrs. Willie Simmons of Denison.
Pallbearers will be Walter Morrison, Jimmy Morrison, John Morrison, Ronnie Morrison, Rickey Betts and Francis McWilliams.
