Obituary for J.C.
BORGER - John Cox "Sip" Campbell, 68, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, in Oklahoma City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. A. F. Casey, pastor of First Baptist Church in Fritch, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Campbell was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Stover, Miss., to Earl and Josephine Campbell. Leaving the cotton fields of home at the tender age of 16 to join his elder brother Granville (Bug aka "Sleepy") and cousins in the oil fields of Texas, JC became "Sip," the youngest hand from Mississippi. After working in the Texas and California oil fields, Sip settled in Borger where he and his wife, Bettye Jean, raised their family.

Sip was the "Campbell" in Gunn-Campbell Well Service Inc. He enjoyed playing pool, dancing with his wife, fishing and hunting. Sip never met a stranger. He made people feel special. We will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 42 years; his parents; and Samuel, his eldest brother and Arthur Earl, his youngest brother.

Survivors include a daughter, Darla Rawls and husband, Lonnie, of Yukon, Okla.; a son, John Harold Campbell of Borger; two brothers, Granville Campbell of Midwest City, Okla., and Otis Campbell of Borger; a sister, Earlyne Mooneyham of Pearle, Miss.; and five grandchildren, Derrick, Delana, Devon, John Paul and Jacob.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Borger Elks Lodge.
