Naomi Carter
January 11, 1923 - July 25, 2017
Naomi Carter, 94, of Borger, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Golden Plains Community Hospital. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
A native of Healdton, Oklahoma, she had been a Borger resident since 1949 moving from Lawton, Oklahoma. She sewed for the public, including making the Borger High School cheerleading uniforms. Naomi loved the church and was over the Junior Department, and sang in the church choir. She loved singing gospel songs to her caregivers, even if it was out of tune.
Naomi married Ernest Carter on September 24, 1940 in Duncan, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, W.A. Brown and Etta (Stewart) Brown, 2 brothers, Arto and W.L Brown, 3 sisters, Vala Robinson, Dorothy Bowen and Lela Mauldin.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Sharolett Hogan and husband, Tracy Don of Borger and Janis True and husband, Bob of Borger, 5 grandchildren, Keitha Keplinger of Amarillo, Kandi Hoeffner of Copeland, KS, William Lee Hendricks, Jr. of Bourbonnais, Ill, Robert Brice Hendricks of Davenport, FL, Zachary Carter Hickerson of Pooler, GA, 7 great-grandchildren, MKeegan Hoeffner, Christopher Hendricks, Bryan Hendricks, Elizabeth Cagle, Josh Hickerson, Logan Hickerson and Kyleigh Hickerson, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
